What should I know before I start learning to drive?

Before you can get behind the wheel, there are a few key points to note:
  • By law you may not drive on a public road until you reach the age of 17 (16 years if a disabled driver).
  • You must have a Signed Provisional Driving Licence before you can take your first in-car lesson. Application forms are available from Jowetts or any Post Office.
  • Your eyesight must meet a minimum standard, so if in doubt, it is worthwhile having a sight test before you start learning
